The Open Source Notebook website has been up and running since 2007-01-03, when it took over for it's predecessor bonAveo Ubuntu Linux blog. Since then there have been published eighty entries, and there have been more than twice as many reader submitted comments!

Coping with internet addiction

As of last Monday I do not have a permanent internet connection at home. I have had to manage with Opera Mini on my mobile phone, and those few hours a week I have media classes at school. Being that I am used to staying online at least eight hours a day, it has been hard coping with suddenly being cut off.
The big question stands: How to cope with internet addiction when you are cut off from the web?

WordPress Website compromised - Lead to down time

Open Source Notebook where taken offline for a few hours earlier today due to a security exploit in WordPress. WordPress' official blog issued a warning about a compromised version that had been available from the WordPress Website.

A malicious hacker had gained access to WordPress' download server, and had modified two files in WP to include code that would allow for remote PHP execution. Upon reading this I took down this Website, which was running the compromised version, to do an immediate update.
