What to do with all the DVDs?
Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2008-02-07
As a media consumer I have quite a large DVD collection (approximately 250 disks). But what should I do with all these disks once the new and incompatible formats have taken over? For how long will I be able to even watch these movies? Do I even watch them?
Thoughts on storage and archiving
Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2008-01-29
Digital archiving is becoming an increasing problem for me. What do I keep, and why? For now I am trying to archive as much as possible. Just because I have no good way of determining what to keep. But then storage becomes a problem!
Multimedia is failing as a form of entertainment
Words by Daniel Aleksandersen on 2008-01-14
Digital multimedia is failing. There are so many competing formats, and it is so hard to get by leagal files. It has become too much an effort to buy a film or a song! If you were actually to find something, it would be in a format that would be not be accessible in just a few years. The industry must unite or digital multimedia will soon fail as a type of entertainment.
