Ogg extensions in the wild

FLAC 1.2.1 was released a few hours ago. Among the changes was a new file extensions for the Ogg FLAC format. The new .oga (audio/ogg) extension is a part of Xiph's new file extension and MIME type specification for their media formats. FLAC's implementation is one of the very first seen in the wild.
OGG is for metadata too

OGG is a media container format. But it is also supposed to contain metadata; information describing the media it contains. But there is no standard at all for including metadata in OGG containers. I want to change that.

Digital media is broken

All the competing multimedia players, formats, and codecs have broken digital multimedia. Is it really necessary to have this many media players, add-ons, and codecs installed to be able to open videos and music? And what about my files in ten years?
