Concept: TimeKonqueror

This is a concept for a graphical version control management add-on for KDE’s file managers Konqueror and Dolphin. The concept is inspired by Time Machine for Finder in Mac OS 10.5.

The idea is quite simple: Add a new toolbar to Konqueror and Dolphin. The toolbar will need to have three buttons: Keep in version control, Previous version, and Next version.

The first button will create a repository for the current folder (or maybe selected file?) at ~/.kde/share/apps/TimeKonqueror/repositories/. Then, each time the user modifies a file in that folder; it will get checked into the repository automatically. The Previous and Next version buttons will check-out a previous version from the repository and refresh the folder with that version. Each click on the button retrieves an earlier or newer version from the repository.

Basically it is Time Machine without the universe background feel.
