Starting over

I want to apply all I have learned about GNU/Linux and Debian over the last six months. So I am prepering to reinstall my entire system from scratch. Thus avoiding all the configuration errors I have had the last six months.

I want a fresh installation to make sure I will get rid of all old problems when I do it all over again. By doing everything from scratch, I hope to remove all the misconfigurations I have made and left lying around on my system.

I also want to manually spesify options when creating the / and /home partitions. By default, EXT3 reserves 5% for the root user. This is a lot of unusable disk capasaty on a 0,1 TB+ disk.

Update@10:15, this can apperently be changed by # tune2fs -m 0 <partition> too.

This is going to be fun. :-)

Good luck mate! I mean, not that you probably need it, but you know: having to reinstall Linux from scratch always means at least one pot of debug-coffee if not more … *sighs* If only Linux where a tad easier to handle for the non-technical species … Still, I do love it's growing popularity! :)

Have fun! (and remember that Scribus really is starting to become awesome for DTP)

Linux is not difficult to install nor use. The troublesome part is knowing what to do when you need to know it! ;-)
