Thoughts on storage and archiving
Digital archiving is becoming an increasing problem for me. What do I keep, and why? For now I am trying to archive as much as possible. Just because I have no good way of determining what to keep. But then storage becomes a problem!
My main problem is that I need to define how to structure…just about everything in my digital life! Is this PDF booklet a whitepaper, book, or a magazine? I really do not know, so do I put it in the magazine or book directory in my file hierarchy? —and why did I want to keep that PDF again?
The whole idea behind this website was that I could write down different solutions to problem I encountered when switching to Linux. Not that I have ever done that or kept the solutions in any format. I have learend a great deal about Linux and how to fix the problems I encounter. But when it comes to archiving these solutions….
How do you deal with archiving of everything in your digital life? Have you got any good tips for me?
