Note regarding spam comments

Just a quick note regarding the problem of comment spam in blogs (and everywhere else):

The site uses the Askimet WordPress plug-in to fight off spam. If your comment is incorrectly identified as spam it make take a few days before I get to it and can pull it out of the filtering system.

If you post a comment and it is not visible on the site I urge you to resubmit it after five days.

I am looking into better ways of filtering out spam, which will allow me to run trough the moderation process much faster. I will try and incorporate a forced comment preview feature. That should filter out much of the automated stuff directed at the WordPress publishing platform.

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience! And I will try and work out a better and quicker solution as soon as possible!

You can use anti spam image wordpress plugin. It's quite effective. You can get it from wordpress plugin page, but you get verion 0.2 only.

If you go to the authors page, you can download version 0.5.

Spam was a huge problem when I started blogging, but atm there is almost no spam messages on my approval list. Not sure why, might be due to the fact that I don't have that many visitors.

Try using Anti Spam Image plugin. I use that. It helps a lot to fight spams.

That might be the reason, Kent! ^^ I see you blog in Norwegian, that is probably the reason you do not see any spam.

And thanks for the tip Arun. I just do not like using non-accessible solutions. The "Which year is it?" verification I came up with for this site is excellent too. It works really well, but some times cleaver bastards can figure their way around that one too!

I have commented the issue further on The Web Design Journal.com.
