Apple is being sued

…over the name iPhone on their new product launched at yesterday's MacWorld conference, BBC News reports.

Cisco Systems, which owns the iPhone trademark launched an voice over IP phone right before Christmas last year, is suing Apple, Inc. over the use of iPhone. The blogosphere where all saying that Apple would have to pay Cisco 1 USD per iPhone sold for the use of their trademark.

However BBC quotes an Apple spokes man We are the first company to ever use the iPhone name for a cell phone, and if Cisco wants to challenge us on it we are very confident we will prevail.

I guess we will just have to see how this one turns out. Cisco have had the iPhone trademark since 200, but Apple registered it as a trademark somewhere in Asia just last autumn.
